This is the right time to start learning how to run Lightning nodes

Yep, -50% from ATH. Time to spend the next 3 years learning the tech and starting new ventures.
Update: I learned the tech, its benefits and also its flaws. Bitcoin Lightning is great, but:
Update: I learned the tech, its benefits and also its flaws. Bitcoin Lightning is great, but:
- running a node as a side project is a real job, given the requirements of maintaining the safety of a bitcoin hot wallet funded with >1BTC.
- I do already have a full time job and it's great.
- Profitability from fees is very debatable and this does not help the growth of the network. Race to the bottom only benefits big players, which is fine, but then as a small fish I feel like the risk/reward ratio is very skewed towards risk (hot wallet, running node).
- Autopilot is a great feature and I am sure it will mature a lot in the next 5 years. For now, I cannot spend my whole nights trying to keep cash flows balanced between inbound and outbound. No thanks, this contributes to the profitability concern above.
Once those are resolved, I will be back. I am a strong Bitcoin maxi, but also an engineer and prefer to be facts driven (that's why I started this node) and honest.
Lightning is great, not just fitting my profitability and risk profile. I prefer keeping my sats in a cold wallet.

Those participating in the lightning network by opening new channels will be seen as decentralized bankers within this decade. Longer and established routing channels may become more valuable in time.
