Unable to connect to peer, tor host is unreachable

Trying to open a channel from an umbrel node with Tor running, to a non .onion lightning address. I go to open it and the following is stated. - Unable to connect to peer, tor host is unreachable. My Tor is running fine so i presume it means the connection but they obviously aren't doing it over Tor.
Any advice would be appreciated. I'm not doubt just being a moron.

I believe you have to add that node as a peer first in Thunderhub and then try again to open a channel. Something along those lines. Multiple people have asked this question in swaps so try and look there.

Thanks for the reply, Tried it though Thunderhub and RTL adding them as a peer, but it says the same thing -Tor node unreachable

what is the tor node address?

StarsHollow wrote about 3 years ago

i had the same, i think because of some tor network congestion or misconfiguration on my end. the other peer was able to connect to my node over tor, that fixed it as i could open the channel after that

Melbourne, were you able to fix this issue? I'm having it right now

As a follow up... the other user with the clearnet address added me as a peer. Then I was able to open a channel with him on my umbrel tor node
