Configured to auto update fees per channel using charge-lnd
Posted over 2 years ago
Friends, my node is now configured to auto update fees using charge-lnd based on the policies I defined.
I followed this post, and tweaked it a bit. I suggest that you do as well!
Quick summary:
I followed this post, and tweaked it a bit. I suggest that you do as well!
Quick summary:
- Min: 5 ppm (most of the liquidity on my side)
- Max: 500 ppm (most of the liquidity on your side)
- Median: 57 ppm
- Base fee: 0
- If I've recently opened a channel with you, the fee would be 1 or 0 ppm
I may use LNDg in the future because it seems a better tool for rebalancing and dynamic fee management.
Enabled Lightning Network Watchtower
Posted almost 3 years ago
Friends, as an added protection to my node, I enabled the watchtower.
To put it simply, in the event of my node going offline, a malicious node to which I have a channel with... could force-close... and broadcast an old state when they had more sats on their side... thereby stealing my sats.
Watchtower keeps track of the latest channel states & monitors the blockchain. They can send a punishing transaction to the attacker taking all funds in the channel, then send it to the victim. While there may be some privacy implications (watchtowers do see more info about you), I think it's acceptable.
Andreas Antonopoulos explained it well here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2jvUcJqtmI
You can enable it by adding the following to your `lnd.conf`:

You can enable it by adding the following to your `lnd.conf`:
[wtclient] wtclient.active=true
Then restart `lnd` or your node.
Add a node as a watchtower:
Add a node as a watchtower:
lncli wtclient add NODE_URI
Your node can be a watchtower too:
[watchtower] watchtower.active=true
Get the details & share it to your friends:

Increased default fee rate to 80 ppm
Posted almost 3 years ago
Friends, I increased my default fee rate from 35 ppm to 80 ppm as an experiment.
According to 1ml, the median is 40 ppm... so I'll be doubling that 😉
As a side note, I use rebalance-lnd to rebalance liquidity between channels. How do you do yours?
I heard about charge-lnd but I haven't gotten the time to implement it. Let me know if you use it!

Configured to auto rebalance using rebalance-lnd
Posted almost 3 years ago
Friends, my node is now configured to auto rebalance using rebalance-lnd every 3 hours.
Here are the args:
Here are the args:
- --min-remote 300000
- --min-local 300000
- --amount 100000
- --fee-factor 2
... so if you have a channel with me, you may see 100,000 sats rebalance every once in a while.
I don't know if this is a good setting. Please let me know if you have better ideas or tools!
Believe in Me Who Believes in You

Friends, I'll be backing up my node hard drive within the next few weeks. I'll also update & tweak some conf/packages. That means my node will be down for a couple of hours as I explore ways to improve.
So please don't close your channel with me. Believe in me who believes in you.
I also updated my alias, featuring an anime called Gurren Lagann. Just to keep things more fun! Watch it if you haven't.
